Recent files list etc.

Postby geo » Thursday 19. May 2005, 12:32

Howdy all,

Got the new beta yesterday (5.01.25) and it didn't fix a few things I thought it might.

First - my recently used file list is always the same, and full of files I haven't accessed for months: could be related to...

2nd - I always get startup tip number one on startup. (I haven't actually tried to turn it off - I was waiting to see if it got better)

I'm guessing these problems are related to inappropriate access allowance for some directory. I can't find it if it is. Any ideas?

3rd - someone (Herr Macslow?) posted a bug report to say F1 doesn't work if you're in Germany. Well my computer is in Belgium, but thinks it's in New York, and F1 doesn't work. Should I tell it I'm in Finland? Other keys don't work either - Ctrl Z is the most annoying one as I need to undo more than other people (yes even more than you). Has that been discussed before?

4th - OpenGL seems as flaky as ever. Might be time to look for an updated ATI driver.

5th - Scripting is back (or at least the menu is) but I can't remember what I wanted it for (okay, that's not a problem with the beta)

6th - This message has gone on too long without a smiley :D

geo,
Turning off the tips will not turn off the tips. I agree about the likelyhood of access permissions being a part of this problem.

At least the undo hotkey can be fixed by manaully creating a macro and binding it to ctrl-z; I also made ctrl-shift-z redo :). Unfortunately, save and load cannot be fixed this way.

thanks Zaug, will copy.

btw your Enlightenment page has disappeared. I installed it today to see if it improved my OpenGL time. Were there any tips I need to know? Or have you stopped using it?

Geo,
Np. Yeah, disappeared for now; new site in the works. But, not sure the page still holds much validity. Yes, still using (and liking) Enlightenment. No tips really, but feel free to ask if you have any questions.
I do not think it will help your OGL times but it is definitely much more responsive for me than kwin was.

ok I've turned off hardware acceleration in xorg.conf and guess what? My startup tips are updated and the recent files list remains current. ¿Que pasa hombre?

Anyway at least I can do modelling now without crashing every 30 seconds.
