Thanks to Frank Dodd for describing the way to reach the Internet Relay Chat (IRC) #Realsoft on Quakenet

www.mirc.co.uk but if you use a comprehensive client such as this its well worth taking some time to find out about security related issues in the same way as you would with a browser). Whichever client you choose it will ask you to select a connection or will allow you to type in a connection address. The Realsoft channel is operated on QuakeNet IRC servers: and any connection with QuakeNet in its title will work there are many connection addresses you can find on the net but I usually use two alternatives: -
b0rk.uk.quakenet.org
irc.fragzone.se
Once connected join the Realsoft channel (usually by typing /join #realsoft3d however this can vary from client to client, the RS channel usually has about 8 to ten people in it but there are long periods when the channel is silent as people are logged in and away from the client working on something else so set the channel to beep on messages and wait for someone to wake up. Many IRC Clients also allow people to quickly transfer files to one another although your firewall needs to be properly configured for this. Regulars that authenticate with the network servers 'Q&L bots' are given access to moderator features and can set channel topics and messages.
